This Thing Actually Works - Some Preliminary Data
We’ve been promoting stories onto the front page of Digg for almost two weeks now, and we have surprised even ourselves at our effectiveness. To protect our users, we can’t release too many details, but here are the most important tidbits:
- Not a single user has reported being banned from Digg
- The average user makes $3.50 per week, while top users make about double this. This should increase as we get more advertisers.
- Not a single advertiser has been dissatisfied with our service.
- Our quality control on advertisements has worked amazingly. Only on one story was there a single comment that suspected Digg-gaming due to the content of the story. We quarantined the users on that story for two days, and nothing ever came of it.
So, what’s next? We’re going to pick up the volume slightly on Digg, and then look beyond. We don’t want to hurt Digg by promoting too many stories to the front page in a day. So where are we looking? Stay tuned…
If you are an advertiser or a user, feel free to post your experiences with our site, e.g. how much you’ve made, how many visitors you got to your site, etc.
Subvert and Profit!
The pace of stories to digg has seemed to pick up a bit today. Made around $6 this week. I hope the advertisers are getting tons of hits to their site and I hope to keep having stories to digg on a constant basis.
I appreciate the good work guys…keep it up.
Eh? Why can’t I withdraw less than $10? In case my account gets banned, with less than $10 in it, how do I withdraw the money?
You left out the great customer service and ultra fast response times you give.
Thank you.
JP
You guys should really change the description for Digg users on your main site. It currently says that users are paid 50 cents per Digg, which is not true. I was saddened to learn, after already Digging several lists of stories that users were paid per list. You guys should either pay the amount you are advertising, or change the text.
Ben,
On the “Digg user” page it says “we pay you per list of stories.” Maybe we’ll put that on the front page of the site, too.
eh?,
We’ve taken great steps to ensure that you won’t get banned. If we start hearing about users getting banned, we will add the functionality of changing your verified Digg account. You’d probably have to use a different IP address to be safe.
Yeah the $10 limit of withdrawing money is a bit high. Maybe lowering it to $5? I realize PayPal charges for transactions so that might be why its $10. Still cool
Its great, although it would be nice to make more cash quicker! I was expecting to be able to make a decent amount per week (not just $5).
will you please let us take out less than $10?
eh?
I thought about this as well. One thing you could do, that I assume word work is add money to your account, then take it all out again.
Yeah I figure that would work. But I’m really not strapped for the $7.00 I have in my account…i’m also hoping to make a bit more per week. Maybe we can have multiple digg accounts and link it to one subvert and profit account. Of course these accounts would need to be made with different IP addresses..
We’d certainly consider lowering the minimum withdraw amount if we ever heard of a user getting banned. We haven’t so far.
Also, we have the capacity and the userbase to pick up the pace, all we need is some more media coverage. We’re working on that right now.
Thanks for subverting,
Ragnar
I’m just trying to get enough money to buy the E INK kit :)… $3000
I should be able to get amount of money in 1000 weeks….
